The U.S. Soccer Federation has announced that the national team will not play
international matches in October due to concerns about The Cofed-19.
The U.S. team has not played a game since a 1-0 win over Costa Rica in February in Carson, California.
Friendly matches against the Netherlands and Wales were cancelled in March, as well as the Concacaf Golden Box in June and the start of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in September.
"After intense talks about setting up a national team training camp in October, we ultimately decided that the extraordinary challenges posed by Coved-19 in hosting international competitors and pooling our players would not allow us to move forward," USC General Manager Brian McBride said in a statement.
"We appreciate the effort our staff have put in place and discussions with the League to try to deal with concerns and find solutions," he said.
The U.S. Soccer Federation aims to set up a training camp in November before participating in official matches in 2021 starting with the March Nations League clash.
"While the Coronavirus continues to cause problems for us, we are confident that we can move forward in the near future, giving us the opportunity to play games to prepare for the important championships next year," said U.S. coach Greg Brahter.
